The 1980's


During its existence Orlyk has performed at international concerts and festivals in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Holland, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the Isle of Man. These may performances are marked with a plethora of certificates, trophies & memorabilia.

1988 The ensemble took part in the historical celebration of the millenium of the Baptism of Rus-Ukraine in the Royal Albert Hall. London in May 1988 – in the presence of the Spiritual Leaders of the Ukrainian Catholic Church and the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church and a further audience of over 5000 people.

Later in the same year Orlyk again performed in the Vatican in the presence of His Holiness Pope John Paul II, the Hierarchy of the Ukrainian Catholic Church and members of the Diplomatic Corp, this amongst and audience of over 7000 people. Orlyk was also invited to perform in the Millennium Celebrations in Germany and Belgium.

1989 In 1989 Orlyk released an LP of its music as a lasting testimony to the many musicians who have enhanced the performances of the dancers.
